about

Place me as a seal on your heart, as a seal on your arm.
Strong as Death is love; intense as Sheol is its ardor.
Its shafts are shafts of fire, flames of Yah.*
Deep waters cannot quench love, nor rivers sweep it away.
(Song of Songs, 8:6-7)
*The Holy Name of Yah points to the aspect of divinity
that is the conjunction of masculine and feminine energies.

The "Song of Songs," or "Song of Solomon," is often quoted as a prophesy of the relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene. This particular verse is said to symbolize their love and devotion. In the ancient Hebrew context, the heart is the center of our experience with the Divine; and, as the heart expands, it opens other centers of our being. The seal of love on our hearts guarantees our connection to the Source while the arm represents what we do and how we handle what life offers us. Cynthia Bourgeault expresses it in this way: "Love is always there in the eternity of their (Yeshua and Maryam's) hearts, but the time for clinging is over and the time for proclamation has begun."
